Universal Studios has optioned the Boom! Studios comic book series Day Men, which just debuted on July 17. Both Universal and Boom! are coming off the success of 2 Guns, adapted from Steven Grant's Boom! graphic novels, which opened in theaters earlier this month. Here's the official description of the Day Men comic books.

"For thousands of years, the world has been controlled by the "50 Families" a secret network of vampire covens engaged in timeless contests of power. But when the sun rises, the vampires are forced to employ the services of a human who acts as their daytime fixer ... Trained for centuries to be the mortal soldiers employers, the Day Men go forth at sunrise, alone into the world, to do the bidding of their sleeping benefactors."

Boom! Studios' Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing, although no screenwriter or director has been attached yet. Boom! Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon and Michael Alan Nelson co-created the comic book series, with Brian Stelfreeze providing the artwork.
