Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is hunting vampires in the latest trailer for the upcoming Netflix action outing, Day Shift. Released courtesy of the official Netflix YouTube channel, the newly released footage from Day Shift teases the R-rated approach to vampire hunting, as Foxx punches, shoots, and decapitates his way through the blood-sucking undead.

Day Shift is led by Jamie Foxx as a hard-working blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter. While he works a mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job, this is merely a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters. When the LA vampire hunter is told that has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid's tuition and braces, Foxx must work overtime to make the funds he so desperately needs. Make no mistake, trying to make a living these days just might kill him.

The trailer has fun contrasting the glorious summer sunshine of Los Angeles with the dank and dark surroundings Foxx finds himself in when performing his vampire-killing duties. The footage does not shy away from the blood, gore, and violence, as vampires are slaughtered in the most brutal way possible. All in a day's work.

Day Shift Comes from the Guys Who Taught John Wick How to Kick Ass

Not only does the trailer lean heavily into the R-rated violence, but it is also quick to remind us all that Day Shift comes from “the guys who taught John Wick how to kick ass.” Indeed, Day Shift has quite the action movie pedigree behind it. The movie marks the directorial debut of JJ Perry, who is best known for his work as a second-unit director and stunt coordinator for such action outings as The Fate of the Furious, Bloodshot, and, most exciting of all, the John Wick series. And Perry is far from the only member of the Day Shift crew to have experience contending with Keanu Reeves’ beloved, dog-loving assassin.

The script for Netflix’s Day Shift is written by Tyler Tice, with revisions having been penned by Shay Hatten of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum fame, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski on board as a producer alongside Jason Spitz for 87Eleven Entertainment; Shaun Redick and Yvette Yates Redick for Impossible Dream Entertainment. Jamie Foxx is executive producing with Datari Turner and Peter Baxter.

Day Shift has amassed an impressive supporting cast alongside Spider-Man: No Way Home star Jamie Foxx, who will be joined in Day Shift by Dave Franco (Now You See Me, The Disaster Artist), Snoop Dogg (Bones, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run), Scott Adkins (Accident Man), Meagan Good (Monster Hunter), Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder), Eric Lange (Narcos), Zion Broadnax (Holly Day), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (The Society), Oliver Masucci (The Swarm), Steve Howey (Shameless), and C.S. Lee (Dexter).

Day Shift is due to be released on Netflix on August 12, 2022.
