Aquaman: Sunrise Entertainment heads Alan and Peter Riche, whose credits appropriately enough include both the feature film versions of Starsky & Hutch and The Mod Squad, are reportedly the newest team to get a crack at launching Aquaman onto the silverscreen. Indications are that first-time scribe Ben Grant is currently at work on the screenplay. However, the source was unable to verify whether the production will be an origin story or one which assumes filmgoers will be familiar with the character. There are no actors signed to any roles at this time; though there have been widely circulating rumors for months that Spy Hunter's Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be assailing the lead role.

It's been several years since there were last any substantive development rumors or reports regarding a live action take on this particular DC comics character, which, when last reported on , was set to be helmed by Vatel director Roland Joffé and star 24 headliner Kiefer Sutherland and Along Came a Spider's Monica Potter.

Sunrise Entertainment is apparently also developing a "Yogi Bear" feature film at Warner Brothers, with Todd R. Jones and Earl Richey Jones, the former "The Hughleys" producers and In Living Color writers who made their feature screenwriting debut earlier this year with the comedy Johnson Family Vacation.
