Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is hitting the gym once again for the upcoming MCU sequel, Deadpool 3, and it’s all in an effort to keep up with his co-star, Hugh Jackman. Taking to social media, Reynolds shared a perfect pleasant image of himself standing inside his own iron paradise, captioning the photo “Keeping Up With The Jackmans.”

Despite being covered head-to-toe in a red and black suit, Reynolds has worked hard over the years to get into superhero shape for his portrayal of The Merc with a Mouth known as Deadpool. And Deadpool 3 will be no different, with Reynolds now having the added incentive of looking better than his co-star Hugh Jackman, who returns as Logan aka Wolverine following what was expected to be his final appearance in 2017’s Logan.

"Another chapter in the raunchy, violent, and of course, hilarious Deadpool series," reads the brief synopsis for Deadpool 3. While further details of Deadpool 3 remain largely under wraps at present, it is rumored that the sequel will see Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Logan embarking on a road trip. A plot outline that Reynolds seemingly revealed several years ago.

While Ryan Reynolds has become known for his action hero physique, make no mistake, he is going to have a hard time keeping up with Hugh Jackman. The Wolverine star, who has shared several intense images of himself working hard in the gym, recently revealed the mammoth bulking diet he is currently on in order to fill out that yellow spandex suit. "Bulking," Jackman said while sharing an image of the six meals he has to eat a day so as to reach a massive 8,000 calories. "A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst .. Becoming. Wolverine. Again."

And it seems that Marvel will make good use of all of Jackman’s hard work and heavy eating, with the actor revealing recently that his role as Logan aka Wolverine in Deadpool 3 will include multiple roles. "Yes, it will even be a dual role,” he said. Making it pretty clear that there will be at least two different versions of Wolverine in the Deadpool threequel. Unless of course Jackman appears as himself in a meta reference befitting the world of Deadpool.

Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and The Crown star Emma Corrin, who has been cast the villain of the piece, Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024 as part of Phase Six of the MCU. The rest of Phase Six of the MCU includes Fantastic Four on February 14, 2025, and two Avengers sequels, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, which are due for release on May 2, 2025, and May 1, 2026, respectively.
