Logan star Hugh Jackman has revealed intriguing details of his role in Deadpool 3, stating that it will be a “dual role.” As if the news that Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 were not surprising enough already, the actor has now offered some insight into what this return will involve, saying to La Parisien that he will play more than one part in the Deadpool threequel. Which, with the MCU multiverse now unleashed, can surely only mean variants?

"Yes, it will even be a dual role.”

While details of Deadpool 3 remain largely under wraps at present, it is expected that the sequel will see Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman’s Logan embarking on a road trip. Jackman has played multiple Wolverines before, starring as aged Logan and his younger, more violent clone in the critically acclaimed Logan back in 2017. And it is certainly exciting to learn that Jackman will be performing alongside himself once again.

So, based on Jackman’s latest revelation, could this mean that it will be a road trip across the multiverse? With the Merc with a Mouth and The Wolverine running into different versions of themselves along the way? Things could even get really meta, with Jackman perhaps appearing as himself and thus delivering on the jab made at the actor during the final moments of the first Deadpool.

Of course, this is all mere speculation for now, but with Jackman confirming that his role in Deadpool 3 will be a dual one, it’s hard not to wonder what surprises might be in store when the movie lands in theaters next year.

While we sit and ponder what variant versions of Wolverine Jackman could be bringing to the screen, the actor has revealed what a great time he is having making Deadpool 3 alongside his long-time friend (and occasional enemy) Ryan Reynolds.

"Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years; we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer. That's why I'm so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to enjoy French gastronomy. Because very soon, I'm going to have to put myself on a strict diet to remake my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!"

Jackman has been hitting the gym hard once again to bring Wolverine back to life for Deadpool 3, with the actor promising a hate-hate relationship between the antihero pair. "How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we're zero, we're opposites, hate each other,” he said. “I'm just talking from my perspective, [Logan's] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can't be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I'm probably going to punch him in the head a lot."

Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and The Crown star Emma Corrin, who has been cast the villain of the piece, Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024 as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
