The Deadpool cast is starting to come together nicely, with Ryan Reynolds starring as the title character, T.J. Miller appearing as an unnamed sidekick and Gina Carano taking on the role of Angel Dust and Ed Skrein taking on an unknown role rumored to be a villain. A casting call has been issued by 20th Century Fox as production gears up for a March start date in Vancouver. The studio is seeking actors for seven important roles, with the descriptions hinting at existing Marvel characters. The casting call is for a project dubbed WHAM!, which is the known working title and/or code name for Deadpool, and it appears that these 7 new characters have also been given code names. Take a look at the casting breakdowns below, then read on for more details.

[RIDGE] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a dick.... but with a sense of humor. He is not a psychopath, he's practical but morally neutral-he doesn't enjoy torturing people, he just doesn't care. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

[LINDSAY] Any ethnicity, 20s, attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she's developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she's not a victim-she may not have a great life but she's holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She's got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

Since the first character "Ridge" appears to be a villain, there is speculation that he may actually be Marvel character Ajax, who was Deadpool's main adversary in a leaked version of the screenplay. Lindsay could possibly be the female lead, a role that several actresses tested for earlier this month, including Morena Baccarin, Taylor Schilling, Crystal Reed and Rebecca Rittenhouse. There is speculation that the character may be either Domino or Vanessa Carlyle.

Simon could be the character that T.J. Miller is playing, but that may not be the case, since the actor entered negotiations for his mysterious role back in January, and this casting call was issued on February 12. It's possible that Simon could be Deadpool's sidekick, Weasel, but that has yet to be confirmed. Based on the character's age, Shirlie is believed to be Blind Al, who lives with Wade Wilson and dispenses advise to the mercenary. Keren could be Gina Carano's Angel Dust, since the casting notice came out a day after we reported she entered negotiations, and Albert may be a henchman such as Garrison Kane, Sluggo or Wyne, who all appeared in the screenplay that leaked a few years back. Kathy could be a brand new character created specifically for the movie.

At any rate, whoever these characters end up being, it seems they'll be sticking around for at least four movies, since any deal would include options for three sequels. What do you think about these new character details? Do you have any theories as to who they might be? Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more on Deadpool as production gets under way next month.
