Yesterday, we got to see a new photo from the highly anticipated X-Men spinoff Deadpool, which showed Ryan Reynolds in full costume, standing on a bridge near an overturned car. Today, we get two more official photos from Marvel's first Hard R rated superhero, and this time, the Merc with the Mouth is joined by Negasonic Teenage Warhead. If these latest images are any indication, this is going to be one fun ride.
Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. This latest batch of photos introduces Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, a character first introduced in the X-Men comics and named after a song from 90s hard rockers Monster Magnet.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead was created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, and her real name is Ellie Phimister. She is a telepath who studied under Emma Frost, and helps connect Deadpool to the wider X-Men universe. The antihero will also be joined by Mutant Colossus, though we have yet to see him emerge in any of the recent photo reveals. The movie will be in theaters next February, but our first look at footage may come during the 20th Century Fox Comic Con panel happening in Hall H Saturday, July 11. Until then, check out these excellent new photos.
