Ever since Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a stand-alone Deadpool movie has been inching its way through development. Tim Miller is attached to direct from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland), but there has been little to no movement on the project for quite some time.

Back in July, test footage from the movie, featuring Ryan Reynolds as The Merc With the Mouth, leaked online, and thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response from the video, the project might be moving forward again. Here's what the actor had to say in a recent interview.

"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."

Of course, we haven't heard anything official from 20th Century Fox regarding the status of Deadpool, but Rob Liefeld, who created the Marvel comic book the movie is based on, recently revealed that they have found a way to make Deadpool PG-13, without compromising the character's roots.
