Last week, it was revealed that the new red band trailer for 20th Century Fox's highly-anticipated Deadpool will debut Tuesday, August 4 on the TBS late-night talk show Conan. The day has finally come, with the R-rated footage shown at Comic-Con finally available for all to see. The trailer already leaked shortly after the SDCC panel, but now we can see it in high resolution.

Based upon Marvel Comics most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. The Merc With the Mouth, which he originated in the 2009 superhero movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fans have been clamoring to see this project come together for many years, but it wasn't until the test footage leaked last summer that the project started gaining momentum. Following the overwhelmingly positive response to the footage, 20th Century Fox finally gave the green light for the project, which hits theaters February 12, 2016.

The supporting cast includes Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlyle, a.k.a. Copycat, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein as Ajax, T.J. Miller as Weasel and Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Tim Miller directs from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, based on the Marvel Comics character created by Rob Liefeld. Ryan Reynolds has also expressed interest in reprising his Deadpool role in X-Force, which 20th Century Fox is currently developing.

Deadpool will go up against Warner Bros.' romantic comedy How to Be Single and the Paramount comedy sequel Zoolander 2. Do you think this superhero adaptation will destroy its competition in February? Check out the new red band trailer and let us know what you think. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on Deadpool as we get closer to the February 12 release.
