Long before Deadpool became a runaway box office hit, it was confirmed that this superhero adventure will be part of the X-Men movie universe. 20th Century Fox hasn't announced any formal plans to put the Merc With the Mouth in a future X-Men movie yet. And fans have been wondering how this foul-mouthed hero might fit into their PG-13 world. CinemaBlend recently spoke with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were asked if Deadpool should be included in upcoming X-Men movies. Here's what they had to say below.

"Absolutely. I mean absolutely, as much we could see X-Men [characters] in the Deadpool universe, we could see Deadpool in the X-Men universe. And we even have some fun ideas about that. That's more [a] Simon Kinberg question. He's the keeper of the X-Men universe, but in terms of like, 'Could he pop he up in, you know, you know, any of the upcoming X-Men movies?' Absolutely. As long as it's done right, I think we would embrace it."

It's worth noting that, after just under two full weeks in theaters, Deadpool has already become the highest-grossing X-Men movie of all-time. It currently stands at $241.3 million domestically and $256.2 million internationally for a worldwide tally of $497.5 million, and it should surpass the $500 million milestone very soon. While it would almost be foolish not to include Ryan Reynolds' beloved character in future X-Men movies, it will certainly be challenging to put the Merc in a PG-13 movie and expect him to behave. When asked if they'd consider bleeping out his curse words, the writers had this to say.

"That's a great idea, yeah. We've been thinking along those lines, because he's almost trapped in a PG-13 movie. It's a fun idea."

While many fans responded to Deadpool's R-rated language and unconventional behavior, it could be even funnier to see how he would react while being censored. This is the same character who regularly breaks the fourth wall, while referencing the actors who play certain characters in the X-Men universe, so this tactic could certainly work.
