When the NBC game show Deal or No Deal goes into syndication, it will only be a half-hour long, instead of its primetime length of an hour. According to Variety, the show's top prize will only be $250,000 instead of $1 million.
Howie Mandel has already agreed to continue his hosting duties on this shortened version of the popular game show. The sexy suitcase models will be cut back from 26 to a number that has yet to be determined.
It is expected that NBC will sell the show to at least six NBC-owned local stations in New York, L.A., Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Miami. It will be a potential companion to the Merv Griffen-produced game show Crosswords. The new, shorter version of Deal or No Deal could begin airing as early as this fall.
