Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have picked up U.S. and Canadian rights to Justin Simien's comedy Dear White People. The film premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Tyler James Williams and Tessa Thompson star in this comedy that tells the stories of four black students attending Winchester University, where a riot is incited when a white fraternity throws an African-american themed party. Justin Simien wrote and directed the project.

Here is what Roadside's co-president Howard Cohen had to say about the director.

"Justin Simien is a funny, fresh and current voice with his finger on the Millennials' pulse."
