DC fans were excited to finally see Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke during the post-credit scene in Justice League. Now, the actor confirms that the standalone movie is still in the works. Manganiello showed up as Slade Wilson along with Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor in a post-credit scene, and for many it was the best part of Justice League. A project with the Deathstroke character has been teased for months, but there has also been a lot of changes within Warner Bros. and DC Films, which has led to some uncertainty about the DCEU.

Joe Manganiello attended the premiere of Dwayne Johnson's Rampage last night, and took time to answer questions about his part in the big screen adaptation of the video game classic as well as some other topics. Inevitably, the actor was asked about the Deathstroke project. While tight-lipped about the standalone movie and any specifics, Manganiello confirmed that it is still happening. He had this to say.

"There are things in the works, that's all I can say."

Joe Manganiello was originally rumored to first appear in The Batman, back when Ben Affleck was still at the helm of the project. However, a lot has changed with The Batman since Matt Reeves came on board and started from scratch. Manganiello instead ended up at the very end of Justice League and reports have circulated that a solo Deathstroke movie is in the works since then. DC fans remain skeptical about the standalone movie and many believe that the character could show up elsewhere like Suicide Squad 2, which would make sense, but isn't exactly what fans are looking for when it comes to Deathstroke on the big screen.

Deathstroke is apparently still in the cards in some form or another, but it's unclear exactly what Joe Manganiello was referring to when asked about the character's standalone movie. This could be a good thing though. The old model for the DCEU would be to announce just about every movie that was in development, raising the hopes of fans, and then ultimately, letting them down. Deathstroke may very well be in development at the moment, but the studio could be waiting for the perfect time to announce as opposed to just throwing the project out into the wind.

As for Joe Manganiello, he can be seen on the big screen in the upcoming Rampage as a character named Burke, who is the leader of a private military group. More news about the Deathstroke project should be announced soon, if everything goes according to plan. DC Films and Warner Bros. are still going through some changes behind-the-scenes to prevent another Justice League debacle, which is a good thing for DC fans, even though it might take a little longer to get announcements about their upcoming film slate.
