A new official trailer has been released for Dexter: New Blood. Set for a premiere on Showtime in November, the revival series brings back Michael C. Hall as pop culture's most popular serial killer along with some other familiar faces. Ahead of the arrival of the limited series, Showtime has just launched a new full trailer revealing a lot more about Dexter's return and what fans can expect. You can watch the video below.

The synopsis reads: "Are you ready for Dexter's return? Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, Dexter: New Blood finds him living under an assumed name in the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York. Dexter may be embracing his new life, but in the wake of unexpected events in this close-knit community, his Dark Passenger inevitably beckons."

Dexter: New Blood reunites Hall with original series showrunner Clyde Phillips. Joining Hall in the cast is original Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter as Dexter's sister Deb in a new iteration, a role she recently detailed in an interview. Jack Alcott also stars as Dexter's teenage son Harrison, who mysteriously returns to Dexter's life after 10 years apart. The cast also includes Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie's Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), and Clancy Brown (The Crown, Billions).

"I hadn't actually watched. Once they started knocking on my door, I started watching it and I really liked it," Brown previously said of Dexter, per Collider. "I think it's an interesting show, especially considering the time and place that it was on. I liked what they tried to do with every season. They had this overarching theme that they were exploring and I liked that idea. I don't think this is any different. They're doing that same thing. I don't know why everybody was so upset with the ending. I thought it was okay."

Brown is referring to the backlash from fans seen by Showtime when Dexter ended its original run in 2013. While the series had been acclaimed throughout its run, fans were almost unanimous in their disdain for the way Dexter ended, and the series finale had become infamous for its disappointment. Giving the fans a better conclusion to the story was one of the reasons Hall wanted to come on board for the Dexter revival nearly a decade later.

"The appetite for the reboot is a way facilitated by the fact that it was a less than satisfying ending for people," Hall previously said on Entertainment Tonight. "I want to find out what happened to the guy just as much as everybody else. Because he literally didn't say anything at the end. He had been talking to us the whole time and he just stared at the camera and it was over. He put his sister in the ocean. What the hell was that?"

The actor added: "Let's be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there's always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling. I include myself in the group of people that wondered, 'What the hell happened to that guy?' So I'm excited to step back into it."

Dexter: New Blood is available to stream on Sunday, Nov. 7 and airs at 9 .m. ET/PT on Showtime. The limited series will consist of ten episodes, hopefully providing a much more satisfactory ending for the titular vigilante than the controversial ending of season 8.
