Diane Lane has signed on to star in the adaptation Every Secret Thing, which marks the narrative directorial debut of documentary filmmaker Amy Berg (West of Memphis, Deliver Us From Evil).

Nicole Holofcener is writing the screenplay adaptation, based on Laura Lippman's 2004 novel. The story revolves around two 11-year-old girls who are convicted of murdering a baby. They are sent to prison until they turn 18, although, when they are released, other children start to go missing. As the police question the two girls again, the mystery surrounding the original crime begins to unravel. Diane Lane will play the mother of one of the girls, who knows that her daughter is a cunning liar.

Anthony Bregman and actress Frances McDormand are producing. No production schedule was given for the adaptation at this time.
