John Wells (August: Osage County) is closing a deal to direct Chef for The Weinstein Company. When we first reported on this project in January, Derek Cianfrance was attached to direct, but he is no longer involved.

Bradley Cooper stars as Adam Jones, a chef in Paris who ruins his reputation because of an addiction to controlled substances. He sobers up and returns to the City of Lights, determined to create the greatest restaurant in the world, with the goal of receiving three Michelin stars, a top honor in the culinary world. Omar Sy co-stars in an unspecified role.

Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) wrote the screenplay, with Erwin Stoff, Michael Shamberg, and Stacey Sher producing.
