Howdy, Neighbor! is an upcoming horror film, and some of the people involved should look familiar to Disney Channel fans. According to Variety, actors who have signed on to the film consist of Matthew Scott Montgomery, Debby Ryan, Alyson Stoner, Kevin Chamberlin, Tim Bagley, Shayne Topp, and Damien Haas. The supporting cast for the film includes Sterling Sulieman, Adam Faison, Greer Grammer, and Kimmy Shields. It was directed by Allisyn Snyder and written by Montgomery.

It concerns Benjamin (Montgomery), a young queer Millennial actor who was once a famous child actor. Living in West Hollywood, Benjamin meets a new neighbor named Chase (Grant Jordan), who moves across the hall from him and reveals himself to be a fan. Alongside his best friend Harley (Ryan), Benjamin decided to investigate the oddly familiar man.

Howdy, Neighbor! will be formatted as a “screen life” film, where all the footage occurs on computer screens. An example of such a film is Unfriended, which is about a group of high schoolers haunted by a vengeful ghost while on a video call. Or Untitled Horror Movie, a metafiction film about a group of actors making a horror movie. Notably, that one was created with the whole cast in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project is financed by Watch the Footage Productions, which was founded by Snyder and Dylan Snyder from Kickin’ It!, her husband. It will be produced by Exit Strategy, whose employee Charles M. Barsamian is an individual producer. Other producers on the film include Allisyn Snyder and Montgomery, while the executive producers for Watch the Footage are Dylan Snyder and Bob Morrison.

Montgomery, Topp, and Haas were all on So Random! As Matthew Bailey, Shayne Zabo, and Damien Johanssen, respectively. Originally So Random! was an in-universe sketch comedy show during Sonny With a Chance, but after Demi Lovato, the eponymous Sonny, opted out of appearing in a third season, So Random! became an actual show. Snyder was also one of the main cast of both Sonny with a Chance and So Random!

Ryan first rose to prominence as Bailey on The Suite Life on Deck, the sea-based spin-off of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. It was about half the cast of the prior show coming aboard a cruise ship. Ryan was then on Jessie as Jessie, the nanny to the Ross family. She also starred in the movies 16 Wishes and Radio Rebel.

Stoner had a recurring role in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody in addition to both Camp Rock films. She was also Isabella on Phineas and Ferb, which was about two brothers enjoying their summer vacation. She played Isabella, who would show up to ask “whatcha doing” because she was in love with Phineas.

Chamberlin was in Jessie as Bertram, the butler for the Ross family. He also appeared in a cross-over on Austin & Ally, playing the same character. He also appeared in an episode of Bunk’d, which was the sequel series to Jessie, once again portraying Bertram.

Bagley appeared as Principle Rabinoff in Shake It Up, a show about two Chicago teens who became popular dancers on a local show. He also played Judge Giovanni in Raven’s Home, one of the more recent Disney Channel shows. A reboot of the That’s So Raven, Raven-Symone reprises her role as the titular psychic, now a single mom.
