Fans will be headed back to the museum that comes alive when Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again releases on Disney+. The film will go a different route than its predecessors through animation, with an entirely new cast. That doesn't mean old characters won't return, though, as Nick Daley, the son of Ben Stiller's character in the original movies, will reappear.Disney+ recently released a still from the upcoming Night at the Museum installment, showcasing Rexy, the giant Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton that was a prominent character in the first movie and appeared in the subsequent sequels. In the background, fans will also recognize the Easter Island Head that Brad Garrett played in the live-action film. The still released directly from Disney+ can be found below.

Judging by the title, the film will involve Kahmunrah, who was an antagonist featured in the Battle of the Smithsonian, the second film in the franchise. He was played by Hank Azaria, though he won't reprise his role in the upcoming movie. Kahmunrah Rises Again will heavily focus on Nick Daley, who is hesitant to follow in his father's footsteps as the nightwatchman of the museum. Fans can see how his adventure unfolds when Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again arrives on Disney+ next month, on Dec. 9.

Continuing the Night at the Museum franchise is a difficult task after the success of the initial trilogy. Before Disney acquired the rights, 20th Century Fox released the three movies, which collectively grossed $1.3 billion worldwide. However, much of the success was due to the stellar cast, including Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Rami Malek, Rebel Wilson, Owen Wilson, Dick Van Dyke, Ricky Gervais, and many others.

Unfortunately, Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again is looking for a fresh take on the characters, and it's looking as if no one from the original trilogy will return to voice act. Instead, Joshua Bassett will take over as Nick Daley, with Thomas Lennon playing Teddy Roosevelt, Joseph Kamal as Kahmunrah, and Steve Zahn as Jedediah. Jack Whitehall, Kieran Sequoia, Alice Isaaz, Zachary Levi, Gillian Jacob, and Chris Parnell also join the voice cast.

The latest Night at the Museum still features plenty of big names, but will it be enough to bring back the fans of the original? For now, we will have to wait and see when Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again arrives on Disney+ next month, Dec. 9.
