Walt Disney Pictures has acquired the untitled Angelo Brooks project for Mandeville Films' David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman to produce.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Mark Friedman has been hired to write the project, which tells the true story of a Baltimore cop who began a debate program at an inner-city high school. Wolbrook High School was on the verge of being taken over by the state because of low test scores, school violence and dropout rates. Brooks was teaching a class on criminal justice in full uniform and gun when he took over the debate team and began to turn things around. When the team surprisingly won the Urban Debate Finals, it ended up squaring off against an all-white private school.
