The day is finally here. Disney+, the highly-anticipated new streaming service from Disney, has arrived in the U.S., as well as other major markets around the globe. In theory, this means people will now be able to stream a wide variety of classics from the studio's library, as well as new offerings like The Mandalorian and the Lady and the Tramp live-action remake. Unfortunately, that's not the case for everyone, as the service has been plagued with technical issues.

Many users reported error messages while trying to download the app and access the streaming service after it launched at midnight. Some people were having difficulties finding the app in the Apple store, while others were simply getting a technical error, preventing them from accessing the service. The error message reads as follows.

"Unable to connect to Disney+. There seems to be an issue connecting to the Disney+ service. Please try again later if the issue persists."

Disney was well aware of the issue and has been working to correct the matter. For now, it seems like the demand was higher than expected, which led to crashes in the system. Be it too much for the servers to handle, or whatever the case may be, the sheer volume of people trying to check out what Disney+ has to offer seems to be to blame. A company spokesman had this to say in a statement.

"The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our highest expectation. While we are pleased by this incredible response, we are aware of the current user issues and are working to swiftly resolve them. We appreciate your patience."

A similar message was shared on the Disney+ Twitter account, attempting to curb the frustrations of those who wish to stream the goods on Netflix's new competitor in the streaming game. The issues weren't limited to the continental U.S. either. Some of those who had pre-ordered the service in other areas, such as Canada and Puerto Rico, were shown the following message.

"Disney+ is only available in certain regions. Depending on where you are located, you may not be able to access Disney+."

Disney has delayed the launch of Disney+ in Puerto Rico until November 19. Once the initial technical woes are over with, assuming they don't persist, this is ultimately good news for Disney. They're looking to make a play for the future, which will be dominated by streaming. Netflix is currently king of that particular hill, with more than 150 million subscribers worldwide. While Disney has a lot of catching up to do, it seems they're not off to a bad start, at least in terms of demand. Now, if they can just manage to keep up with that demand. Disney+ costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually. A bundle is also available for $12.99 per month that includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+. This news was previously reported by CNBC.
