Swiss Family Robinson: According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Walt Disney Co. is mounting a remake of the classic family film Swiss Family Robinson hiring scribe Greg Poirier to pen a new feature script.

According to sources, the project is a new telling of the classic story set in its original time period, around the beginning of the 19th century.

The story, which first originated as a novel by Johann David Wyss, was the basis for the 1960 Disney film, starring John Mills and Dorothy McGuire. And it also has surfaced in more than a dozen other "Robinson" films and TV shows as well as serving as the inspiration for a Disney theme park attraction.
