Summit Entertainment has hired Jane Got a Gun scribe to adapt the second installment of Veronica Roth's sci-fi novel series titled Insurgent.

The first film, which is set to hit theaters March 21, 2014, is set in a future where America is divided into five ideological factions and centers on Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley). The teenager goes on a journey to uncover her hidden strengths and risks her life to get to the bottom of a mysterious conspiracy, which could possibly change the balance of power. The second installment continues her journey as war now looms.

Neil Burger is directing Divergent from a script written by Evan Daugherty. Theo James and Kate Winslet co-star alongside Maggie Q and Jai Courtney. Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher of Red Wagon Entertainment are producing with Pouya Shahbazian. Production is currently under way.

The young adult fantasy series was published back in 2011 and has stayed atop The New York Times Bestseller list since it's release.
