Last week some of us, but not all, were knocked off our (somewhat) collective feet by the trailer for The Haunting of Hill House and Gerald's Game director Mike Flanagan's upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining sequel novel Doctor Sleep starring Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, and Kyliegh Curran. And if that killer trailer just wasn't enough for you to slap the film on the tip-top of your must-see list, then maybe today's news will do the trick. Today we have word that The Shining and Doctor Sleep author Stephen King himself says that Mike Flanagan's upcoming adaptation of Doctor Sleep "is going to blow your mind."

Specifically, Stephen King tweeted this out.

"This movie is going to blow your mind. If you have any left after IT CHAPTER 2, that is."

Haha. Nice. Got to love the praise King keeps throwing at IT Chapter Two, huh? But, yeah, having read the source material that Doctor Sleep is based on, I can say that this new movie is going to be pretty mind-blowing for fans of Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining who are holding off on reading King's sequel. Especially considering that the recently released trailer for Doctor Sleep revealed that - unlike King's novel - this version of an adult Danny Torrance battling steam-vampires will be returning to the infamous Overlook Hotel - which was blown up by Jack Nicholson's Jack Torrance at the end of King's scariest book.

Doctor Sleep will see Ewan McGregor taking over the role of Danny Torrance from The Shining along with Rebecca Ferguson as the movie's villain, Rose the Hat. McGregor and Ferguson will be battling to the death over Abra Stone, a little girl with "the shining" played in this feature film by newcomer, Kyliegh Curran. Other cast set to scare you senseless this Thanksgiving include Zahn McClarnon as Crow Daddy, Rose the Hat's right-hand man, and Emily Alyn Lind as Snakebite Andi, a member of their crew, the True Knot. Bruce Greenwood will join them as Dr. John Dalton, Carl Lumbly as Dick Hallorann, Alex Essoe as Wendy Torrance, and Jocelin Donahue, Cliff Curtis, Zackary Momoh, and Jacob Tremblay in currently unnamed roles.

The Haunting of Hill House and Gerald's Game director Mike Flanagan is taking the helm of Doctor Sleep from a screenplay he wrote himself based on the The Shining sequel novel penned by author Stephen King. Trevor Macy and Jon Berg are producing this new movie which features music by The Newton Brothers, cinematography by Michael Fimognari, and editing by Flanagan. Intrepid Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment are the production companies behind this sequel which Warner Bros, Pictures will unleash worldwide on October 30, 2019, and then into a theater near you here in the states on November 8, 2019. On a cool side note, the movie was initially scheduled to be released in January 2020, but then Warner Bros. gave the flick "a major vote of confidence" and re-scheduled it to its current November 2019 release date. Nice, right? This story comes to us via Stephen King over on Twitter.
