Director Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining sequel,Doctor Sleepwill be stalking into theaters near you this November featuring Ewan McGregor as adult Danny Torrance. McGregor's Danny will be going up against a semi-vampire played by Rebecca Ferguson in a battle for the soul of a young girl with the shining named Abra Stone. The flick is damn-near at the top of my 2019 must-see horror movies, and today we have the film's trailer to share with you guys. Check it out below!

King himself teased the trailer was going to be hitting today over on Instagram, and sure enough, here it is. I don't know about you, but I've read King's novel, and I found it to be a worthy sequel to what is (debatably) King's scariest book. Sure it's not as frightening as the original novel The Shining, or Stanely Kubrick's original movie starring Jack Nicholson for that matter, but it still tells an intense and utterly captivating road trip yarn with gore galore. Here's hoping the powers that be behind the scenes stay truthful to the book while also paying homage to Kubrick's masterpiece of terror. And if this trailer is any indication, it looks like Flanagan and his team aim to bring us just that this Thanksgiving.

While this adaptation of Doctor Sleep hasn't had a detailed plot rundown attached to it as of yet, the book's official synopsis lets us know the story deals with an adult Danny Torrance who struggles with alcoholism and remains traumatized by the unfortunate events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. But the younger Torrance finally finds a new purpose in life when he forms a psychic connection with a girl who shares his shining ability. There's no mention of these semi-vampires in the rundown, but trust me, they're in there. And they mean business. Can't wait to see them in action on the big screen.

The film stars Ewan McGregor as adult Danny Torrance, along with Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat, the head of the cult that feeds on children with psychic powers, and Kyliegh Curran as Abra Stone, the girl with "the shining." Bruce Greenwood joins as Dr. John Dalton, Zahn McClarnon as Rose's right-hand man, Crow Daddy, and Emily Alyn Lind as Snakebite Andi, a member of the True Knot. Jocelin Donahue (House of the Devil) will join them, along with Jacob Tremblay (Room, The Predator), and Zackary Momoh. Not only that but original characters from The Shining will be appearing as well. They include Carl Lumbly as Dick Hallorann, who was initially played by Scatman Crothers in Stanley Kubrick's film, and Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes) as Danny's mother, Wendy Torrance, played initially by Shelley Duvall in The Shining.

Doctor Sleep is written and directed by Mike Flanagan (Gerald's Game, The Haunting of Hill House) based on the novel by Stephen King. Trevor Macy and Jon Berg are producing this new nightmare which features music by The Newton Brothers, cinematography by Michael Fimognari, and editing by Mike Flanagan. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute Doctor Sleep aka The Shining 2 into a theater near you on November 8, 2019. This trailer comes to us via Warner Bros.
