Be warned, possible spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to follow...

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has seemingly confirmed some hugely exciting details regarding the upcoming Marvel sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Doctor Strange follow-up will further unleash the multiverse on the MCU, with The Master of the Mystic Arts exploring all manner of alternate universes and the variants that come with them. With this in mind, various rumors and leaks have claimed that several Marvel characters previously held under the Fox umbrella, such as Deadpool and The X-Men, will be making an appearance. Well, while speaking on an episode of The Big Thing, Liefeld revealed that this is all true, with the information coming from recent test screenings.

Liefeld began by explaining how much the studio is testing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which it turns out is a lot. “Here’s the deal you all know, I want to know — have either of you been caught trying to sneak into a screening of Doctor Strange 2? …They are testing the s--t out of this movie,” he said. “The thing is, uh, they’re testing, it’s all getting out. We’re all guilty of hitting those hashtags, there’s always that one guy because, here’s how I know…”

Things quickly got far more interesting though, as Liefeld went on to confirm that some of the ongoing rumors regarding cameo appearances from various Fox/Marvel characters are indeed true.

“I think it’s safe to say some of the stuff, you just said that’s out there, it’s happening. It’s in, it’s been seen… And so dude, give us lots of that.”

If that were not already enough, Liefeld went on to explain that Marvel wants even more cameo appearances in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This desire to hurl a huge number of familiar faces at the screen is apparently coming as a result of the test screenings.

“But yeah, Doctor Strange… to answer that other question and, you know, whatever they’re testing. I kind of feel like each… result of each test that’s being reported in the press is ‘We need to put more cool shit in that movie.'”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Could Change the MCU Forever

Marvel is no doubt hoping to re-create the crowd-pleasing moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home...but even more so. According to Liefeld, they may have found the way to do it, adding a host of prior 20th Century Fox characters to the fray, with Doctor Strange presumably stumbling across them as he explores the multiverse.

“You want me to see it six times, you bring some of that [Fox-Marvel] stuff in… And actually, I know on some level, some of it is already there. I have just revoked every – every one of my [Marvel] passes just got revoked.”

Directed by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could well change the MCU forever. While it is still unknown which Fox characters could feature, and how much they will play into the plot, the idea of The X-Men, Deadpool, and others finally joining the shared universe is a hugely exciting one, and could see Doctor Strange 2 push the multiversal envelope even further than Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2022.
