/captain-america-3-civil-war-villain-daniel-bruhl/Just moments ago, Marvel announced that Daniel Brühl has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War in a mystery role. Shortly there after, Deadline claimed the actor is set to play the villain. Now, a third report has come in, and while no character is named, Variety notes that the villain will actually be the main nemesis seen in Doctor Strange.
Captain America: Civil War, which hits theaters May 16, 2016, will actually set up Doctor Strange's main villain, which hits theaters later that same year in November. This is all speculation, of course, until Disney and Marvel confirm or deny it. But sources close to the studio claim that this is how the story is set to play out.
This fits in with comments made earlier in the year by producer and studio figurehead Kevin Feige:
"It's a big storyline. This is the Civil War of the cinematic universe, inspired by comicbook universe, but the Civil War that's based on all of the other films, particularly ('Captain America: The Winter Soldier') and ('The Avengers: Age of Ultron')."
It's not known which Doctor Strange villain Daniel Brühl may be taking on. Earlier in the month, Scott Derrickson teased the Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa story line first published by Marvel in 1986. That plot centers on a mystical artifact that brings Strange back home to study it, where he begins communicating with the Lords of Shamballa. The story also follows an opportunity that will allow all of humanity to reach a golden age. There is no clearcut villain in that particular storyline.
It is not yet known how many movies Daniel Brühl has signed on for, but most actors in the MCU sign on for multiple appearances spread throughout the various spinoffs and solo adventures. Who do you think Daniel Brühl may be playing?
