Disney has announced that Doctor Strange will be coming to Disney's California Adventure. There have been no details released about when the Sorcerer Supreme will arrive, or in what part of the park he'll pop up. Here's the official statement regarding Doctor Strange coming to Disney's California Adventure, from the official Disney Parks Blog.

"Guests will soon have the opportunity to encounter the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange, at Disney California Adventure park! Doctor Strange acts as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and relics to protect the universe. Guests will soon get a glimpse into his magical, mind-bending world when he appears for the first time at the Disneyland Resort. Doctor Strange travels great distances in an instant by opening portals between dimensions. There's no telling where and when he might appear, so be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more information!"

When asked by a fan if this announcement meant there will be a new Doctor Strange ride coming to Disney California Adventure, Michael Ramirez, the editorial content director for Disneyland Resort, clarified that, "Doctor Strange will be available for photo opportunities when he appears at Disney California Adventure park!" This announcement comes just weeks after it was announced that a new Marvel-themed land will open in 2020 at Disney's California adventure, which will feature heroes such as the Avengers, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. This new land will be "anchored" by the current attraction Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout, with the the adjacent area currently known as A Bug's Land, an attraction based on the 1998 movie A Bug's Life, being shut down this summer as construction for the new Marvel land begins.

It's worth noting that the poster for this new Disney California Adventure attraction released last month also featured Doctor Strange and Black Panther. Between the Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout ride, this upcoming Marvel land in 2020 and these Doctor Strange appearances, it's clear that Disney's California Adventure will be the place to be for Marvel fans in the near future.

Doctor Strange was released in 2016, earning $232.6 million domestic and $677.7 million worldwide, from a $165 million budget. Benedict Cumberbatch revealed last month that there are no concrete plans for Doctor Strange 2 quite yet, although just a few weeks ago, writer C. Robert Cargill, who co-wrote Doctor Strange with director Scott Derrickson, teased details about what direction they'd like to take the sequel in, should they get a chance to make it. It's possible that Doctor Strange 2 could be part of Marvel's Phase 4 plans, but those likely won't come into focus until after Avengers: Infinity War (April 27, 2018) and Avengers 4 (May 3, 2019) close out Phase 3. As of now, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 (July 5, 2019) and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 are the only confirmed movies for Phase 4, but hopefully we find out more soon. The Disney Parks Blog broke the news on these Doctor Strange apperances at Disney's California Adventure.
