The Marvel Cinematic Universe is continuing to expand after nearly a decade of existence, and it is about to get a whole lot more mystic and magical. Doctor Strange is the next movie on the slate for Marvel Studios, and they just dropped a brand new, epic trailer for it. Stephen Strange may be a new character to most of the general public, but this trailer will surely help sell everyone on Marvel's latest hero, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe that he is bringing to the table with him.

The studio decided to debut the new Doctor Strange trailer for fans who attended the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, and it may wind up being one of the most talked about things from the entire convention. Members of the cast and crew were on hand for the panel, including director Scott Derrickson, who had teased bringing something special from the movie to the convention a couple of weeks ago on his Twitter account. Prior to this, the only footage we had seen from the movie came from the teaser trailer which debuted back in April.

Marvel Studios brought several of their upcoming movies to San Diego Comic-Con this year but there is no doubt that much of the focus of the studio's panel on Saturday at SDCC was on Doctor Strange. Even though the movie has some massive star power behind hit, he is a brand new character, and a very different one at that. Even many hardcore comic book fans only have a passing knowledge of the character, so Marvel Studios is definitely going to want to sell the larger audience on the premise and the character, who it seems will be a big part of the MCU moving forward. And this trailer should definitely help sell some who may not have been convinced. Here is the official synopsis for Doctor Strange.

"Marvel's Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City's Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe."

Doctor Strange boasts an incredible cast, which is being headlined by Benedict Cumberbatch, who is playing Stephen Strange. The supporting cast includes Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor,Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker, Scott Adkins and Mads Mikkelsen. Marvel still hasn't revealed the identities of all of the characters yet, but we do know that Mads Mikkelsen is playing the villain Kaecilius, and that Rachel McAdams is playing the character of Night Nurse. Tilda Swinton is playing the Ancient One, and Chiwetel Ejiofor portraying Baron Mordo, with Michael Stuhlbarg playing Nicodemus West.

Doctor Strange is not only going to be a very different kind of movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is going to be a very different kind of comic book movie altogether.
