Superhero fans don't have to wait much longer to see the next movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but eager audiences can get a sneak peak at Doctor Strange before the movie hits theaters. Marvel Studios has just released a new promo for the movie, which teases their heroes getting strange. The studio has also put together a fan event next week which will give those in attendance a sneak peak at the movie and some of the mind-bending sorcery in 3D.
The new promo was released by the Doctor StrangeTwitter account. The promo itself is only 30 seconds long, but it features Iron Man's helmet, Thor's hammer and Captain America's shield, all being surrounded by the mystical energy we have seen in the trailers. The promo declares that "Our heroes are getting strange," which is both a play on the title of Doctor Strange and a bit of truth, considering that the character is a pretty bizarre departure from the other Marvel heroes teased in the promo. The 30-second spot ends with a very quick sizzle reel featuring some of the best shots we have seen in the Doctor Strange trailers up to this point. But it was the text that accompanied the tweet which may interest die hard fans.
"Our heroes are getting Strange. Get a 3D first look at #DoctorStrange in select theaters! Reserve your seats now."
On October 10, Marvel Studios will be holding a fan event at select theaters across the country. During the event, a total of 15 minutes of Doctor Strange will be screened in IMAX 3D. Not only that, but fans who go to the event will receive a limited edition Doctor Strange poster. The event is totally free and fans who are interested in going can grab passes while supplies last. Similar to the way that Guardians of the Galaxy was opening up a new corner of the Marvel Universe and was seen as a bit of a risk, Doctor Strange will be an entirely different kind of adventure in the MCU. While the ideas of magic have only been teased slightly in movies like Thor, Doctor Strange will be dealing with straight up sorcery, as well as battling in other dimensions, and a whole lot of other strange superhero business. At this point, Marvel Studios just putting their name on a movie somewhat guarantees a certain level of success, but it seems like they want to really show fans what Doctor Strange has to offer and maybe get some more of the general public on board with the movie.
Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen. The movie was directed by Scott Derrickson from a script by Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill.
