The latest look at Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor reveals that he and new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Coronation Street star Millie Gibson, will travel to the swinging sixties when Doctor Who returns later this year. Revealed courtesy of the official Doctor Who Twitter account, several new images have now been unveiled and show both Gatwa and Gibson getting into the swing of things as they attempt to blend into their surroundings. Check out the new look at Doctor Who below.

Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa will take over the iconic role as the fifteenth iteration of The Doctor. The actor has yet to be introduced however, as the final moments of Jodie Whittaker’s run as the Thirteenth Doctor saw her regenerate – to everyone’s surprise, including how own – into David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor. Which now also makes him the Fourteenth Doctor.

While we await further sights of Gatwa’s Doctor and how the actor plans to make the role his own, producer Russell T Davies has heaped praise on the actor and cannot wait to show audiences what he will do with this latest iteration of the Time Lord. "Last night we had Ncuti's first read-through. He's so unbelievably stunning,” Davies declared. “I can't wait for you to see him. He just lifts your hair off your head. He's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful, in every sense. So, very excited. But, to have David and Catherine doing three hours as well is extra joy.”

The response to the latest adventures of Doctor Who have been somewhat...mixed, with the series struggling to find its feet since the departure of both David Tennant and Russell T. Davies. Good news then, as both will return to the series, with Davies revealing that the large budget now available to him thanks to a deal between the BBC and Disney Branded Television helped persuade him to make a comeback.

"I mean any piece of television costs millions. We're not allowed to talk about budget, and we're not on that Star Wars or Star Trek level, but it's more than I've ever had to work with,” Davies explained earlier this year. “…it's one of the reason[s] I've come back -- you can tell stories on a bigger scale. It's the same old problems, I still have to cut scenes because they're too expensive, and I still have to reduce the number of monsters, and things like that, but my imagination feels more free, a lot more free, actually. It's just a joy to write anyway. I'm really proud of it. Oh my god, there are some strong episodes coming up.”

Ncuti Gatwa will take over as Doctor Who during the 60th-anniversary episodes, which are due to air during the festive season of 2023. Following this, Gatwa will lead his owns series as the Fifteenth Doctor in the fourteenth season, which is due to debut sometime in 2024.
