That's a wrap for Sylvester McCoy on The Munsters. Already beloved by Whovians for his role as the Seventh Doctor in Doctor Who, McCoy will next play Igor, the loyal servant to the titular monster family in Rob Zombie's upcoming reboot. The news that he's wrapped his work on the film comes after McCoy let it slip in 2020 that he would be teaming up with Zombie for a horror-comedy film shot in Hungary, though he didn't reveal at the time that it would be a reboot of The Munsters, calling it a "comedic Dracula film."

In the caption of the new Instagram post, Zombie says, "After another long night of shooting on The Munsters it’s a wrap on our new pal Sylvester McCoy! I know you are going to love him as IGOR. He a perfect addition to our crazy new world of Gods and Munsters."

McCoy is acclaimed by fans for his role in the Doctor Who franchise, portraying the Seventh Doctor, who was the last of the original Doctors in the show's original run. The actor can also be recognized for his role as Radagast in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit series. In recent years, he also appeared in the films The Owners and Lost at Christmas, as well as the series Sense8, Zapped, and Thunderbirds Are Go.

The Munsters Cast Has Mostly Been Introduced

Munster

While Sylvester McCoy is wrapping up his work on The Munsters, there are still other characters getting announced by Rob Zombie. He just recently revealed that Tomas Boykin will be playing Lester Dracula, the werewolf brother of Lily Munster (Sheri Moon Zombie). Also starring in lead roles are Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman and Dan Roebuck as Grandpa, but it's still unclear if Eddie and Marilyn will be included and who will be playing them, if so.

Other confirmed cast members include Richard Brake as Dr. Wolfgang, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson as Barbara Carr, Jeremy Wheeler as Mr. Gateman, and Dee Wallace as the voice of "Good Morning Transylvania." It's still unclear if Zombie will be announcing Eddie, Marilyn, and/or other cast members.

A trailer hasn't been released, but fans have gotten some sneak peeks at The Munsters with various images of the set along with its revealed cast members. Rob Zombie had 1313 Mockingbird Lane constructed from scratch using blueprints to have it made up looking just as it did in the original comedy series. While there had been speculation that Zombie's reboot would be an R-rated take on The Munsters, given the kinds of ultra-violent horror films the filmmaker has released in the past, that won't be the case with The Munsters. Keeping the reboot in line with the original show, the movie has been given a PG rating.

The Munsters reboot doesn't have an official release date but is expected to be released in theaters and on NBCUniversal's streaming service Peacock in 2022.
