According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox's Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story threw a huge wrench into the works at the boxoffice during the weekend. The Ben Stiller-Vince Vaughn starrer took the industry by surprise as it knocked the front-runner, DreamWorks' A-list-pedigreed The Terminal, out of the game and easily took top honors with an estimated $30 million.

But clearly the weekend's most costly disappointment was Buena Vista's Around the World in 80 Days, a PG-rated family film from Walden Media. An adaptation of Jules Verne's novel, "80 Days" could muster only a bleak estimate of $6.8 million to place ninth, upping its cumulative take to $9.6 million since its Wednesday opening. Industry estimates put the cost for "80 Days," an ensemble picture starring Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan and directed by Frank Coraci, at $100 million.
