With the John Wick franchise set to expand with spinoffs on both the big and small screens, we could end up seeing Donnie Yen starring in his own story. In John Wick: Chapter 4, Yen makes his debut in the franchise as the blind assassin Caine, an old acquaintance of Keanu Reeves' John Wick who's tasked by the High Table with taking him down. Yen's performance in the role has drawn some praise with Caine standing out as a fan favorite, and as there's still so much about him that's unknown, the assassin seems to have a lot of spinoff potential to further explore the character.

For what it's worth, Yen is interested in doing more with Caine in the John Wick universe. In a new interview (per Variety), he named a spinoff focusing on Caine as something he hopes to do next in Hollywood. Yen made his interest clear by stating, "I'd love to do a John Wick spinoff centered around Caine."

With that said, Yen even suggests that there may have already been some "talks" about the spinoff, but he adds that this doesn't necessarily mean that the project will happen.

"There's always 'talks' in Hollywood," Yen said, laughing.

Yen continues to work frequently in China, but even beyond a potential John Wick spinoff, it's probably just a matter of time before he's back on the big screen, especially given the box office success of John Wick: Chapter 4. For years, he's been attached to a planned Sleeping Dogs movie based on the video game. Some Star Wars fans have also been calling for him to get his own Rogue One prequel on Disney+, and the actor has previously said he's open to revisiting that role as well.

For now, fans can take in Yen's latest performance by heading to the movie theater. Yen stars in John Wick: Chapter 4 alongside Keanu Reeves, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Ian McShane, Clancy Brown, and the late Lance Reddick. Yen was among the cast and crew wearing ribbons at the Los Angeles premiere of the film, as Reddick had died just days earlier.

At least two spinoffs are already in development for John Wick. Ana de Armas will lead her own spinoff film Ballerina, which will include cameos from Reeves and others from the franchise. A prequel series called The Continental is also in the works at Peacock which will feature Colin Woodell as a younger version of Ian McShane's character, Winston Scott; Mel Gibson also stars. More spinoffs have been teased by producer Erica Lee, who says that a third spinoff will be announced in the near future.

“There is another film that we're developing that I think we'll be announcing in the next, say, month or two,” Lee told Collider. “Then, I'm hopeful there's a Ballerina 2, and John Wick 5, and lots of other things. But we're developing a lot of stuff and having a lot of discussions with a lot of writers and brand management and Wick universe is my utmost priority.”

John Wick: Chapter 4 is now playing in movie theaters.
