A sliver of new footage for Don’t Worry Darling further teases the mystery at the center of director Olivia Wilde’s upcoming psychological thriller. Released courtesy of DiscussingFilm, the brief footage offers another look at the unnervingly perfect town that star Florence Pugh finds herself in.

Don’t Worry Darling follows Alice and Jack, a couple who are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank, a man who is equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach, anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia.

While the husbands spend every day inside the Victory Project Headquarters, working on the “development of progressive materials,” their wives—including Frank’s elegant partner, Shelley—get to spend their time enjoying the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their community. Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this paradise?

Don’t Worry Darling stars the Oscar-nominated Florence Pugh (Little Women, Black Widow) and Harry Styles (Dunkirk) as the couple who find themselves terrified by the surface utopia in which they live in. The supporting cast is comprised of Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard) and Chris Pine (All the Old Knives).

Don’t Worry Darling also stars Nick Kroll (How It Ends), Sydney Chandler (Pistol), Kate Berlant (Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood), Asif Ali (WandaVision), Douglas Smith (Big Little Lies), Timothy Simons (Veep) and Ari’el Stachel (Law & Order: SVU).

Olivia Wilde (Booksmart) will helm Don’t Worry Darling from a screenplay penned by her Booksmart writer Katie Silberman. The thriller is based on a story by Carey Van Dyke & Shane Van Dyke (Chernobyl Diaries) and Silberman.

Wilde has teased the themes and the central mystery behind Don’t Worry Darling, comparing the project with some of the most critically acclaimed movie mysteries ever made. During the recent CinemaCon event, Wilde called Don’t Worry Darling “Inception, The Matrix, Truman Show. It’s my love letter to the movies that pushed boundaries of ambition. It's ambitious, but I think we made something pretty special.” So, some very lofty aspirations indeed.

“Imagine a life where you could have anything you ever, not just the tangible things…But also the things that really matter: True love with the perfect partner, real trusted friendships,” Wilde continued during her CinemaCon panel. “What would it take for you to give up that perfect life? What are you willing to sacrifice to do what’s right? Are you willing to dismantle the system that is designed to serve you?”

Don't Worry Darling is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 23, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
