In general, January is a dry month for new movies. But once in a while, a film that shows a ton of potential comes out. This January we already had M3GAN, a really fun movie that knows what it is doing, and now we have Door Mouse. We keep our fingers crossed, but the trailer for this film looks cool.

This neo-noir mystery thriller is vibrating with style and flashy colors. Some workers in the sex industry are disappearing for God knows what reasons. The police do not really help in situations like that, so it is up to a comic book creator to find the truth and deliver some justice. But what business has a comic book creator with something so ugly and harsh?

Here's everything we know about Door Mouse.

Door Mouse: The Plot

It is really hard to make a living as a comic book creator. Mama (Famke Janssen), who works in a burlesque club in order to survive, asks a colleague of hers in the comic book business named Mouse (Hayley Law) for help. She wants to find the truth behind the disappearances of some young women from her job. Mouse and her sidekick Ugly (Keith Powers) find themselves trapped in a mystery filled with sex, drugs, and perversion. Will they find the missing women? Are they going to be safe? Who are the dark figures behind all that? We can wait to learn the truth alongside our protagonists.

There is violence, drugs, and the implications of sex acts, besides the fact that the victims are sex workers. This movie is not for everyone, and considering that there is real violence and disappearances of countless sex workers in the real world, we can not help but feel uncomfortable when movies trivialize that just for an easy shock value and because sex sells.

We do not know how the movie handles all the sensitive subjects, but from the trailer, we do know how it handles the light, the sets, and the atmosphere. There is so much style in this trailer alone, we cannot help but feel optimistic for the whole film. It is sad that most of us may not have a chance to see it on the big screen, due to its limited release, but in the age of streaming it is safe to assume that it will not be too long until we will be able to see it in the comfort of our homes.
