Music producer Dr. Dre is developing horror-thriller Thaw for his Crucial Films. The film is based on a original idea from his studio partner Daniel Schnider.

The film will center on an ancient evil that emerges from the rapidly melting ice in the Yukon. Vik Weet is writing the script for the rapper. The writer is also working on a currently untitled thriller about an investitgation into the 1959 Dyatlov Pass incident, in which nine experienced hikers were found dead in Russia's Ural Mountains, which is directed by Renny Harlin.

The rapper started Crucial Films in 2007 with a first-look deal at New Line.

This project is still in early development.
