Sarah Gadon has signed on to play the female lead in Dracula, formerly known as Dracula Year Zero. We reported last month that Luke Evans is starring as the title character.

Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama wrote the screenplay, which blends the mythological origins of Dracula with the true story of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure whom Bram Stoker based his original Dracula novel on. No details were given for Sarah Gadon's character.

Gary Shore is directing for Universal Pictures and producer Michael De Luca, with Alissa Phillips serving as executive producer. No production schedule was given.

Sarah Gadon most recently starred in David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, Cosmopolis, and his upcoming Maps to the Stars. She will next be seen in An Enemy, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
