DreamWorks has picked up the rights to Paul Kix's upcoming book Noble Assassin. Cary Fukunaga, who recently signed on to direct Beasts of No Nation starring Idris Elba, will be at the helm.

The film tells the true story of the late Robert de la Rochefoucauld, who was a mercenary for the French Resistance during World War II. He was trained in the dark arts and partook in the destruction of train stations and munitions factories. The war veteran also endured months of torture and escaped his own execution.

The book will be hitting U.S. shelves this October. Michael Sugar of Anonymous Content is producing alongside Cary Fukunaga. The director is best known for helming Jane Eyre and Sin Nombre.

No production schedule has been released.
