According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks has pre-emptively picked up Blades of Glory, a comedy set in the world of men's figure skating, with Red Hour Films' Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld producing with John Jacobs of First Entertainment.

"Blades" was written by brothers Jeff and Craig Cox, two first-time writers. The sale has elements of a classic Hollywood overnight success story since Jeff is a closed caption editor at E! Networks and Craig works at Starbucks. The brothers collaborated on the story with actress Busy Philipps (White Chicks, Freaks and Geeks), a high school friend of theirs.

"This is weird to have all this stuff happen and to still have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go work at Starbucks every day," Craig Cox said. "And I guess it will be kind of funny when I go on my break over to the newsstand to read about it."
