According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks is negotiating to buy the comic book Xombie.

Should the deal happen, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek) will produce the screenplay from writer Will Beall. Beall is a former Los Angeles Police Officer who recently became a homicide detective. He still serves the force while writing.

Xombie is going to be adapted from the Devil's Due comic book by James Farr. The property is based on his online animated series. The story follows a zombie cop named Dirge who tries to save humanity's remnants, mainly a young girl named Zoe, who has evil zombies after her.

DreamWorks is trying to pick up the source material.
