Inspired by actual events, this story of friendship and loyalty in the face of corruption and adversity that forever changed the face of today's surf industry, Drift arrives on Blu-ray Disc (plus Digital UltraViolet), DVD (plus Digital UltraViolet) and Digital Download September 17 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Drift is currently available on Video on Demand. Starring Myles Pollard (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Sam Worthington (Avatar), Drift follows two brothers in Australia in the 1970s who battle killer waves, uptight society and ruthless bikers to kick-start the modern surf industry.
The Kelly brothers spend their youth searching for the perfect wave in Australia. Out of necessity the family launches a backyard surf business - re-thinking board design, crafting homemade wetsuits and selling merchandise out of their van. Battling big waves, small town conservatism and criminals, the brothers give rise to a global brand. A story of passion, corruption, friendship and loyalty, deadly addictions and fractured relationships, Drift tells a tale of courage and the will to survive at all odds.
Directed by Morgan O'Neill and Ben Nott, and based on an original story by O'Neill and Tim Duffy, Drift took home Best Narrative Feature and Best Film of the Festival awards from the Rincon International Film Festival, as well as the Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking award from the Newport Beach Film Festival. With bonus features including behind-the-scenes cast and crew interviews, the Drift Blu-ray Disc and DVD, featuring Digital UltraViolet, will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.99, respectively.
