The release date for the upcoming sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two has been moved up, with the sequel now due to hit theaters on November 3, 2023 instead of November 17, 2023. Revealed by THR, Dune: Part Two has taken the release date that was previously held by the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of Blade, a project that has now been put on hold while the studio searches for a new director.

These release dates are not the only ones to have occurred, with Marvel shifting the likes of Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and the Avengers outing Avengers: Secret Wars.

Released last year, the first Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, and Jason Momoa, and is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal novel. Dune hurls audiences into the far future as Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, "melange," AKA "the spice." Though Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap set by his enemies, he takes his concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisors to Arrakis, where a bitter betrayal leads Paul and Jessica to the Fremen, natives of Arrakis who live in the deep desert.

Dune: Part One covered the first half of the source novel, with Dune: Part Two set to depict the second. Thus, the follow-up will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
