A motion poster montage offers our first official look at the likes of Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, and Hugh Grant in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. Titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the sight of the core cast in character was spotted by Variety while walking the floor of San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and provides our first substantial look at anything related to the highly anticipated movie.

The footage begins with Star Trek and Wonder Woman star Chris Pine seriously shredding on a lute before wielding a sword and finally standing in a typically heroic pose. Pine is said to be playing a Bard in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Next up is Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez, who will feature in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves as a Barbarian. As demonstrated in the footage by her affinity with a pretty large ax.

Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page quickly follows, with the actor sporting a heavy suit of armor and assortment of weapons as a Paladin. In Dungeons and Dragons lore, a paladin is a holy knight, crusading in the name of good and order, as well as being a divine spell caster, which should give Page plenty to play with.

Jurassic World Dominion’s Justice Smith will also play a major part in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, starring as a Sorcerer as well as no doubt providing the comic relief that he has become known for. It and It: Chapter Two star Sophia Lillis then strikes a pose as one of the few characters for which we already have a name, Doric, a Druid. Finally, Hugh Grant wields a lit torch before even more expertly wielding a cup of tea as Forge Fletcher, a Rogue.

Based on the hugely popular role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, a movie based on the property has been in development since as far back as 2015. Now titled Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the adaptation finds Game Night directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley on board to helm the project, with the duo also attached to pen the script. Though not much is known about the movie's direction, it has clearly amassed a stellar cast, as demonstrated by this first sight of the main players in costume.

One thing we do know about the direction of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is that Goldstein and Daley will aim to bring humor to the fantastical setting. But not too much. "We want it to be fun,” Jonathan Goldstein previously revealed. “It's not an out and out comedy, but it is an action-fantasy movie with a lot of comedic elements and characters we hope people will really get into and enjoy watching their adventures.”

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on March 3, 2023, by Paramount Pictures. The studio is expected to reveal even more from Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves during a Comic-Con Hall H panel later today.
