Action superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has addressed his much-publicized feud with Fast and Furious lead Vin Diesel in the wake of the announcement that he will lead his own Hobbs-centered adventure. Taking to social media, Johnson has stated that, not only will Luke Hobbs return to the franchise, but that he and Diesel have “put all the past behind us” and will move forward with “brotherhood and resolve.” Check out what Johnson had to say about his relationship with Vin Diesel below.

“Hope you’ve got your funderwear on… HOBBS IS BACK. And he just got lei’d. Luke Hobbs will be returning to the Fast & Furious franchise. Your reactions around the world to Hobbs’ return in Fast X have blown us away. The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the HOBBS movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for FASTX: Part II. Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve - and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”

After missing out on F9 following major disagreements with Vin Diesel and his worth ethic, Johnson has now returned to the franchise, with Luke Hobbs appearing in a mid-credits scene at the end of Fast X. His comeback came as a big surprise considering the words that were exchanged between Johnson and Diesel, with the standalone Hobbs project arriving to surprise us all once again.

“I’ve built my career on an “ Audience First” mentality and that will always serve as my North Star. Congratulations to my Fast Family & Universal Studios on the global success of FAST X and as always, Hobbs & @SevenBucksProd are motivated to help take the Fast franchise to new and exciting places for fans worldwide. “Daddy’s gotta go to work” ~ HOBBS.”

Fast X Has Seen Major Success at the Box Office

Fast X
Universal Pictures

The end of the road begins in Fast X, the tenth installment in the Fast & Furious saga. Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced. In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Since landing in theaters last month, Fast X has made a major impression at the box office, grossing $546 million worldwide and becoming the fifth highest-grossing movie of the year. While Fast X is the beginning of the end for the main franchise, Johnson’s Hobbs movie is likely just a sign of things to come, with Diesel confirming that various spinoffs are now in the works.

Directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, and many more, Fast X is out now in theaters.
