Dwayne Johnson might not be playing Superman in a DC Comics movie, but when he joins the DC family, he will have the same powers as Kal-El. All you have to do is 'say his name'. The actor has finally confirmed that he will take on a role in the DC Comics cinematic universe, and that the title of the movie will be revealed soon. He is clearly teasing his role as Captain Marvel in Shazam!
Many will remember that back in /dwayne-johnson-teases-his-dc-comics-character-compares-it-to-superman/March, The Rock teased that he was going to be playing a DC Comics character. He has now talked with Total Film, and it seems pretty clear that he will take on the role of Shazam!:
"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon that I'm going to play, and I'll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."
Captain Marvel follows young Billy Batson, who gains the power to transform into a very Superman-like superhero called Captain Marvel. He transforms into Captain Marvel by saying the word 'Shazam'.
It was first believed that Dwayne Johnson was going to play Black Adam in Shazam!, a movie he's been talking about since making Get Smart way back in 2007. While that movie continued to gestate over at Warner Bros., it was next believed that the WWE Superstar was going to take on the role of Lobo, which was never confirmed. He was also rumored to be playing Green Lantern in Justice League.
Dwayne Johnson says that his role will be confirmed very shortly. We can expect a report out of Comic-Con 2014 later this week.
