What do Pierce Brosnan, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Dwayne Johnson all have in common? They have all been named Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine. That's right. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has officially taken the title of Sexiest Man Alive for 2016. So now he can add that to his growing list of staggering accomplishments.

People Magazine recently made the announcement and will feature Dwayne Johnson heavily in their upcoming issue in order to celebrate his new title. The former professional wrestler turned biggest star on the planet seemed humbled by the award and was his usual amount of charming with his response. Here is what he had to say.

"I said, 'That's awesome.' And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is. And then I thought, 'Wow, we've pretty much reached the pinnacle.' I'm not quite too sure where we go from here. I've done it all, this is it."

Dwayne Johnson is joining some good, recent company in terms of who has been named Sexiest Man Alive. Last year's winner was soccer star David Beckham and 2014 saw Thor star Chris Hemsworth taking the title. People Magazine has been giving out the award since 1985 when Mel Gibson was the first man to ever receive the honor. The Rock also talked a little bit about his family and how it has helped keep him grounded in recent years since his career really took off.

"I've made big sweeping changes in my career over the years, which have served me nicely," he says. "But I feel that the big sweeping changes that happened in my life, in my relationships, of being a dad, of being a partner, and the things that I was and the things that I am, has really lent itself to a confidence. We just have this awesome family that is truly non-traditional but so rooted in love. And that's such a cool thing. I'm very proud of it."

At the age of 44, Dwayne Johnson's career has never been in a better place. He is currently one of the biggest box office draws on the planet, earning the unofficial title of "franchise Viagra." He is also the highest-paid actor in the business right now, which is no small feat with guys like Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. still working plenty. There are lots of wrestlers who have tried to transition into acting, but Dwayne Johnson has truly proven himself to be more than just a big (don't forget sexy) prop in an action movie. He is a bonafide movie star. But he wasn't always the confident, charming guy we all know him as. He struggled a lot when he was younger, he tells People Magazine.

"Took a lot of time. I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn't have. I was getting arrested multiple times, but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be."

Dwayne Johnson can next be seen, or heard rather, in Disney's upcoming animated feature Moana. That looks to keep the trend of his movies crushing at the box office going, with the added bonus of being loved by critics so far. Next year, he will star in Fast 8, the R-rated Baywatch movie and the Jumanji reboot. And he has plenty of movies lined up well into the future. You can check out more in the latest issue of People Magazine, which comes out on November 28.
