/dwayne-johnson-confirms-he-is-captain-marvel-in-shazam/Yesterday, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he has joined the DC Comics Cinematic Universe in some capacity, and he will be taking the lead in one of their upcoming movies. While he didn't reveal exactly which iconic character he will be playing, he did tease that he has the same powers as Superman. But those powers obviously don't include screenwriting. While the movie will be announced soon, most likely this weekend at Comic-Con, Dwayne Johnson explains that they still need a writer.

Speaking with Today, the action icon and WWE Superstar once again confirmed that he will be stepping into a pair of tights very soon. Or as soon as someone can figure out the screenplay, as Warner Bros. and DC Comics are already on their second or third draft without much success.

"Yes, it is going to happen. I've been dying to announce it by the way...We still have to find the right writer. We're having two, three takes right now. But I'm very excited about it. It's going to be great. I've been waiting a long time for this and so have the fans, by the way."

By 'two or three takes', he most likely means that screenwriters have been brought in, but were unable to crack the right story. At this time, its believed that The Rock will be playing Captain Marvel in Shazam!, a movie previously rumored to be announced at Comic-Con. This character should not be confused with Marvel's own Captain Marvel, who is also rumored to be getting her own solo adventure on the big screen sometime soon.

While Dwayne Johnson has been linked to both Lobo and the John Stewart version of Green Lantern, who is rumored to appear in both Justice League and a Green Lantern/Flash Team Up movie, it was the actor's phrasing that alluded to his role as Captain Marvel.

"I will say this. There's a character out there that we're going to announce very soon that I'm going to play, and I'll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That's all I'm going to say."

Captain Marvel follows young Billy Batson, who gains the power to transform into a very Superman-like superhero called Captain Marvel. He transforms into Captain Marvel by saying the word 'Shazam'. Hence 'just say the word'. Its understandable why we all might think he's taking on Shazam!.
