In a story from Variety, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan are joining World Wrestling Entertainment's family film Big Red.

WWE star Randy Orton is featured in the film. It takes place during the mid-1960s, and follows a bright 12-year-old boy whose English teacher (Harris) gives him a project with the school's biggest outcast and social pariah, Stanley ("Big Red"). When Andy sees Stanley fearlessly confront a school bully, "a series of events is unleashed that changes the lives of the boys and their teacher."

Madigan is going to play the school's principal. Orton takes on the role of the father of the bully who wants to get the teacher fired.

Chase Ellison, Daniel Roebuck, Molly Parker and Mia Rose Frampton are also in the cast.

WWE Studios' executive president Mike Pavone is going to direct from his own script. It will start shooting in and around New Orleans next week.

Big Red marks the third project that the WWE has greenlit to self-finance, produce and release via its distribution deal with Samuel Goldwyn Films. The casting of Harris and Madigan is part of the WWE's latest strategy of putting its wrestlers with established actors, rather than having them completely shoulder a film.
