Ed Harris, Emma Roberts and Amy Madigan have signed on for the indie drama What's Wrong With Virginia, directed and written by Milk's Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.

According to Variety, Harris is replacing Liam Neeson, who had been attached to play the role of a sheriff whose state senate bid is jeopardized when his daughter begins to date the son of a psychologically disturbed woman with whom the sheriff has engaged in a two-decade affair.

What's Wrong With Virginia co-stars Jennifer Connelly in the title role. Madigan is attached to play the sheriff's wife; Roberts will portray his daughter.

The film begins production Sept. 28 in Holland, Mich.
