Production has started on the biopic Eddie the Eagle, with star Hugh Jackman commemorating the first day on set by sharing a photo with his co-star Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) on his official Instagram account. It isn't known where exactly shooting is taking place at this time, but our report from January indicated that shooting may take place in Cheltenham U.K.,where the real Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards grew up. Although he is not seen in this photo, Timothy Spall was being courted to play father of Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards (Taron Egerton), but it isn't known if he has signed on.

Hugh Jackman is playing Chuck Berghorn, a Lake Placid ski jumping expert who helps Eddie train for the Calgary Olympics in 1988. Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards was the first British ski jumper in Olympic history, and, although he took last place in both of his events, he became a media sensation. The project had been stuck in development for several years, with actors such as Steve Coogan and Rupert Grint once attached to play the title character.

Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill, Sunshine on Leith) is directing from a screenplay by Simon Kelton and Sean Macaulay, with Matthew Vaughn attached to produce. Before he turned to filmmaking, Dexter Fletcher was an actor who starred in Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels and Matthew Vaughn's Layer Cake, Stardust and Kick-Ass. Take a look at the photo of Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton below, and stay tuned for more images as production continues.
